Weyerhaeuser closes sale of 5 power plants to International Paper

Weyerhaeuser NR Co. closed the sale of five mills with on-site generation facilities, totaling about 243 MW, to International Paper Co., according to a Dec. 9 FERC filing.

The five biomass facilities included in the deal are the 64-MW Columbus power plant in Lowndes County, Miss.; the 43.75-MW Flint River Turbine Generator No. 1 and the 28-MW Flint River Turbine Generator No. 2 in Macon County, Ga.; the 69.2-MW Port Wentworth Mill in Chatham County, Ga.; and the 38.1-MW New Bern power plant in Craven County, N.C.

The parties consummated the transaction Dec. 1. (EC16-116)
