European data protection regulators could request a review ofthe EU-U.S. Privacy Shield, a new frameworkfor transatlantic data flows, in two years, Reuters reported April 12, citing threepeople with knowledge of the matter.
The watchdogs reportedly raised concerns about the amount ofdata that U.S. government agents can collect and access, as well the extent of independenceof a new U.S. "ombudsperson" that will handle EU privacy complaints.
The regulators also doubt whether Europeans' data transferredto the U.S. will not be subject to indiscriminate mass surveillance.
