Vestas secures turbine order for 252-MW wind facility in India

Vestas Wind Systems A/S signed an engineering, procurement and construction contract with Vivid Solaire Energy Pvt. Ltd. for the 252-MW wind project in state of Tamil Nadu, India.

The Danish turbine manufacturer will begin delivering the 126 turbines in the second quarter of 2019. The agreement also includes a 10-year service agreement for the V120-2.0 MW wind turbines. The project is expected to begin operation in the second half of 2019.

Vivid Solaire, a subsidiary of the French energy giant Engie, secured the project in India's national level wind auctions organised by Solar Energy Corporation of India. Engie India Country Manager Malcolm Wrigley said the project brings ENGIE's renewable energy generation capacity in the country to 1 GW.
