Facebook Live expanded with new tools, features

Facebook Inc.introduced a number of new features to its Live platform, including the abilityto browse live streams and push notification features.

The company said in an April 6 blog post that users can now "golive" for groups and events, express their reactions to a live stream, addvideo filters to streams and send notifications to friends.

The company also launched two places for users to discover newbroadcasts: A dedicated space on the mobile platform to explore live videos anda worldwide map on desktop to see videos. The live video feature is available inmore than 60 countries, according to the blog post.

The live feature was initially introduced as a celebrity's only feature in August 2015 butthe company has quickly expanded the feature since. The announcement comes at atime when Facebook is competing with Snapchat,Twitter Inc. and 's YouTube for dominancein the live-streaming space.
