NextEra Energy Inc. is adding to its growing wind-energy portfolio in Oklahoma with a 250-MW wind farm.
The Skeleton Creek wind farm will be located in Garfield and Alfalfa counties in northern Oklahoma and will be operational by the end of 2019, said Roxanne Reyes, a spokeswoman for the Florida-based company.
NextEra has entered into a power purchase agreement to sell the output of the wind farm, but NextEra is not disclosing the name of the customer, she said.
NextEra's resource portfolio includes more than 2,000 MW of wind power in Oklahoma, according to a Jan. 31 fact sheet. The company has 15 operational wind sites in the state, Reyes said.
With 8,072 MW, Oklahoma ranks third in the nation for installed wind capacity, according to the American Wind Energy Association.
Reyes said the company is looking to expand its wind energy operations in the state, and to continue to grow its renewable energy portfolio.
