SK, KT, LG Uplus win spectrum licenses in South Korea

won thebiggest spectrum share during the recently concluded spectrum auction, TheKorea Times reported May 2.

SK Telecomreportedly won 60 MHz in the 2.6 GHz frequency for 1.27 trillion Korean won.The spectrum will be used to build a new telecom infrastructure, focusing onvirtual reality (VR) and IoT business.

Rivaloperator KT Corp. won20 MHz in the 1.8 GHz frequency for 451.3 billion Korean won. The spectrum willbe used to expand its LTE service.

won 20 MHz in the2.1 GHz frequency for 381.6 billion Korean won. The telco will use the spectrumto improve its UHD services, call sound quality and IoT business.

As of April 29, US$1 was equivalent to 1,139.9Korean won.
