American Superconductor's fiscal Q1'19 loss increases YOY

American Superconductor Corp. on Aug. 6 reported a fiscal first-quarter 2019 non-GAAP net loss of $6.2 million, or negative 30 cents per share, compared to a net loss of $3.6 million, or negative 18 cents per share, in the same period of fiscal 2018.

The S&P Global Market Intelligence consensus normalized EPS estimate for American Superconductor was a loss of 31 cents.

Operating loss for the quarter ending June 30 was $6.2 million, compared with a loss of $5.1 million in fiscal first-quarter 2018. Revenues for the fiscal quarter were $13.8 million, compared to $12.6 million reported in the same quarter of fiscal 2018.

On a GAAP basis, net loss for the first fiscal quarter was $3.5 million, or negative 17 cents per share, compared to a net loss of $4.7 million, or negative 23 cents per share, in the same quarter of fiscal 2018.

For the second quarter of fiscal 2019, American Superconductor's net loss is expected not to exceed $8.5 million, or negative 41 cents per share, and revenues are projected to be in the range of $12 million to $15 million.
