Starz launched a stand-alone subscription streaming appthat will cost $8.99 a month.
The app will allow users to access more than 2,400selections each month, including Starz (US) shows such as "Outlander,""Power" and the upcoming "American Gods," and movies suchas "Avengers: Age of Ultron," the company said April 5.
The digital retail service allows for up to four users towatch simultaneously and virtually unlimited downloads. The new app can bedownloaded via AppleInc.'s App Store for iPhone, iPad, iPod touch and Apple TV, andthrough the Google Inc.'sGoogle Play Store on a wide range of Android supported devices.
Starz subscribers from cable, satellite and telco partnerscan also authenticate and can access Starz programming via the new app. Userscan purchase a subscription or authenticate Starz directly in-app or on theirPC/Mac. Further, subscribers to the Starz sister networks, Starz Encore andMovieplex, can access the app to stream and download content.
Further, the second installment premiere episode of theStarz series, "Outlander," will be made available beginning April 7for streaming and download in advance of its official premiere on Starz onApril 9.
