Utah-based smartphone protective case maker Zagg Inc. tapped Bank of America Corp. to explore strategic alternatives, Reuters reported, citing a statement from Zagg CEO Chris Ahern.
The confirmation follows reports of the company hiring a financial adviser to evaluate a sale after it received buyout interest from private equity firms.
The news outlet quoted Ahern as saying that the company would not "comment further on this process until we have made a decision and are prepared to announce its final outcome."
Zagg manufactures accessories for electronics, including Gear4 smartphone cases, Braven headphones and Mophie battery phone cases. The company attracted buyers as U.S. tariffs on Chinese goods and weaker smartphone demand hit its supply chain, according to Reuters.
