NBC Sports Group strikes exclusive US media rights deal for rugby championship

NBCUniversal Media LLC's NBC Sports Group struck an exclusive multiyear U.S. media rights deal with Six Nations Rugby for the Six Nations Championship.

Starting with the 2018 Six Nations Championship, NBC Sports will present live coverage of all Six Nations matches across its digital and linear platforms. The matches will stream live on NBC Sports Digital's direct-to-consumer live streaming platform NBC Sports Gold.

NBC (US), NBCSN (US) and CNBC (US) will combine to present linear coverage of the Championship, while NBCSports.com and the NBC Sports app will stream all linear coverage, the company said Oct. 5.

The Six Nations Championship consists of 15 matches played in a round-robin format between six teams: England, France, Ireland, Italy, Scotland and Wales.

NBCUniversal is a unit of Comcast Corp.
