Australian mobile game developer iCandy Interactive Ltd. struck a deal with Animoca Brands Corp. Ltd. unit Animoca Brands Ltd. and Alibaba Group Holding Ltd.'s 9Games to localize mobile game "Groove Planet" for the mainland Chinese market.
The deal allows 9Games to localize and publish the game on the Android operating system, using the license and technical support from iCandy and Animoca Brands. 9Games and iCandy will share revenue generated by "Groove Planet" in China, with Animoca Brands entitled to a share of iCandy's revenue.
"Groove Planet" is touted as an alien world-building music game that relies on tracks from a user's own music library or the game's soundtrack. It was acquired by iCandy from Animoca Brands, which holds ownership rights to the game.
9Games, formally known as Guangzhou Aijuyou Information Technology Co. Ltd., operates a distribution arm for the expansion of its mobile gaming business.
