Lucapa Diamond Co. Ltd.'s second tender this year of diamonds from the Mothae kimberlite mine in Lesotho generated proceeds of US$3.5 million.
The company said May 29 that it sold 7,008 carats of rough diamonds in Antwerp, including prices of up to US$26,000 per carat for individual gems.
Total proceeds from the two tenders of Mothae diamonds in 2019 now total US$7.3 million, and Lucapa is considering a third tender within the first half of the year, it noted.
Lucapa recently recovered a 126-carat, gem-quality diamond, the largest gem-quality diamond recovered from the Mothae mine to date.
