Resolute Mining Ltd. said Jan. 19 that further high-grade intercepts have confirmed the Nafolo prospect of the Syama gold mine in Mali as a major gold discovery.
Significant new results from three holes drilled into Nafolo include 41 meters grading 4.9 g/t of gold from 281 meters; 13 meters grading 6.9 g/t of gold from 434 meters; and 29 meters grading 4.7 g/t of gold from 446 meters, ending in mineralization.
According to the company, the Nafolo prospect, located 250 meters south of the current limit of mining in Syama, has the potential to expand the total mineral resource of the project. The proximity and location of the discovery shows potential for the mineralization to be accessed early in Syama's underground mine life.
The drilling program at Nafolo has been accelerated, with a second drill rig commencing in mid-December 2016 to test the prospect's extent.
