T-Mobile US Inc. on May 23 rolled out a revamped wireless service package and announced new matching discounts in a bid to lure subscribers away from rival U.S. carriers.
T-Mobile said it will match or beat eligible subscriber discounts offered by Verizon Communications Inc., Sprint Corp. and AT&T Inc. for wireless customers who wish to switch. T-Mobile will provide up to $15 in matching discounts for one line or up to $30 for two or more lines. The discount offer goes into effect on June 2.
T-Mobile also announced the rebranding of its T-Mobile ONE plan, now called Magenta, with new add-ons included. In addition to wireless service, Magenta plans include 3GB of high-speed wireless hotspot support per line and a basic Netflix Inc. subscription. ONE Plus, which is being rebranded as Magenta Plus, will include the higher-tier standard Netflix subscription, which supports HD viewing.
In addition, T-Mobile announced smartphone deals for both new and existing customers.
T-Mobile and Sprint are in the middle of attempting to obtain regulatory approval to merge.
