New Century Resources Ltd. executed an engineering, procurement and construction contract for refurbishing and commissioning the Century processing plant and Karumba port facility in Queensland, Australia.
The A$40 million contract was awarded to CIMIC Group member Sedgman Pty. Ltd., and work is expected to take five months to complete.
Meanwhile, a A$1.7 million contract for concentrate slurry pipeline refurbishment was awarded to Ausenco Management Pty. Ltd. The refurbishment work is expected to take up to three months, according to a March 5 release.
Total capital costs for the initial restart of operations are estimated at A$50 million, and operations are expected to start in the third quarter.
Meanwhile, Barry Harris was promoted to company COO in addition to his existing role as site senior executive.
Peter Goodman was hired as the project manager to oversee the execution of the engineering, procurement and construction contracts.
