Ares Commercial Real Estate increases board size, names 2 independent directors

Ares CommercialReal Estate Corp. increased the size of its board to eight members fromseven and appointed Rand April and James Skinner to the board as independent directors,effective April 25.

April was appointed director to fill the vacancy on the boardfollowing the death of Michael Diamond in January. April is a retired partner ofthe international law firm Skadden Arps Slate Meagher & Flom LLP, accordingto a Form 8-K filed April 26. Skinner previously worked for Neiman Marcus GroupLLC, where he had served as vice chairman between May 2015 and March 2016, and asCOO and CFO between October 2010 and May 2015.

The initial terms of each of April and Skinner, as directors,will expire at the 2018 annual meeting of stockholders. As a result of the appointments,a majority of the board is now composed of independent directors, and the companybelieves it has regained compliance with the NYSE Listed Company Manual.
