Illinois American Water to buy wastewater collection system for $18M

Illinois American Water Co. agreed to acquire the wastewater collection system of the city of Granite, Ill., for about $18 million.

The wastewater system serves 12,500 customer connections, according to a Dec. 26 press release. The deal is expected to close in late 2020, subject to the approval of the Illinois Commerce Commission.

The utility has also signed purchase agreements with the villages of Andalusia, Leonore, Shiloh and Sydney, as well as the cities of Rosiclare and Jerseyville.

Illinois American Water is a subsidiary of American Water Works Co. Inc.
