Barclays Bank of Kenya shareholders approve name change

Barclays Bank of Kenya Ltd.'s shareholders have approved changing the bank's name to Absa Bank Kenya PLC.

The name change is still subject to regulatory approval.

Earlier in May, parent Barclays Africa Group Ltd.'s shareholders approved changing the South Africa-based company's name to Absa Group Ltd., effective July 11. The group's Barclays-branded subsidiaries in Botswana, Ghana, Mauritius, Mozambique, Seychelles, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia will also rebrand.
