Qatar Re gets license to operate Singapore branch

QatarReinsurance Co. Ltd. obtained regulatory approval to operate abranch office in Singapore.

The company said Oct. 4 that it received a license from the MonetaryAuthority of Singapore to start branch operations. The license became effectiveOct. 3.

Micky Lee, previously in charge of the company's Singaporerepresentative office, will become the principal officer of the branch.

The branch will initially have a team of three seniorunderwriters, who will write nonlife treaty business and selective bouquetbusiness.
