Iberdrola wins 295-MW wind power solicitation in Brazil

Iberdrola SA subsidiary Neoenergia SA won the right to build 295 MW of wind energy capacity in the last tender held by Brazil's National Electric Energy Agency.

As part of its growth plans, Neoenergia will construct nine wind facilities in the Santa Luzia area, which are expected to come online in January 2022, according to a Dec. 20 news release.

Upon completion, Neoenergia's wind power capacity through its under-construction and operational facilities in Brazil will be more than 800 MW. The company also includes four electric distribution businesses in Brazil serving a combined 13.5 million customers.

Iberdrola operates the 90-MW Paraiba wind farm complex in Brazil, which comprises the 30-MW Canoas, 30-MW Lagoa I and 30-MW Lagoa II projects.
