EU antitrust regulators quizzed Hollywood studios andU.K.'s Skyplc over pay TV deals, as part of an antitrust probe oncross-border access to content, Bloomberg News reported March 29, citing aquestionnaire sent to the companies.
The EU reportedly wants details concerning film revenue,length of theatrical run of movies and the time it takes to reach 80% of totalbox office sales per territory, among others.
Studios 21stCentury Fox Inc.'s 20th Century Fox, 's Paramount Pictures,Walt Disney Co.,Time Warner Inc.'sWarner Bros., ComcastCorp.'s NBCUniversalMedia LLC and SonyCorp.'s Sony Pictures could be forced to stop geo-filtering, or theblocking of content based on location, according to three people familiar withthe case cited in the report.
In July 2015, the European Commission a statement of objections to thestudios and Sky regarding the matter.
