IMAX Corp. struck a deal with pan-European cinema chain operator Les Cinémas Gaumont Pathé for five theaters in France, according to an Oct. 12 news release.
As part of a hybrid joint revenue share agreement, an IMAX screen will be added to Pathé's La Villette Cinema in Paris. The four other locations yet to be determined will have IMAX screens with Laser projection technology.
Pathé also agreed to transform the IMAX theater in its Gaumont Disney Village Cinema into an IMAX with Laser system.
With the deal, Pathe's IMAX commitment now adds up to 22 theaters across Europe, 12 of which are in France, six in the Netherlands and four in Switzerland.
