Emmerson PLC estimated that it will need approximately US$7.5 million to complete upgrades at the Port of Mohammedia that will allow the export of potash from its Khemisset project in Morocco.
The amount includes the construction of a storage warehouse and loading facility for at least 800,000 tonnes of potash per year, Emmerson said Nov. 12.
The Port of Mohammedia is 150 kilometers from the proposed mine site. The Port of Casablanca and the proposed Port of Kenitra were named as alternatives.
Emmerson said a scoping study on the project is expected to be delivered in the fourth quarter, ahead of previous schedule.
