Japan current account surplus surges 40.7% YOY in October

Japan's current account surplus increased 40.7% year over year to ¥2.176 trillion in October after posting a surplus of ¥2.271 trillion in September, preliminary data from the Ministry of Finance showed Dec. 8.

Exports rose 14.3% year over year to ¥6.574 trillion in October, following a 14.4% annual increase in September. Imports rose 18.5% to ¥6.143 trillion in October, compared to an annual rise of 12.7% in the previous month.

As of Dec. 7, US$1 was equivalent to ¥112.73.
