SFR to buy Altice's media assets, launch sports channels

's SFR is acquiring parent company 's 49% minority in NextRadioTV, SFRconfirmed April 27.

Theproposed deal values NextRadioTV at €741 million. It operates TVgroup BFMTV and radio station RMC, among others.

SFR added thatit is in exclusive talks to acquire Altice's Altice Media Group France, whichpublishes over 20 national titles, including Libération, L'Express, L'Expansion, L'Etudiant and Stratégies.

Theproposed deal values Altice Media Group France at €241 million, to be presentedto relevant bodies representing employees of Altice Media Group France forconsultation.

AlticeMedia Group France also operates international news channel i24 News andengages in events management.

Meanwhile,SFR is also planning to launch sports channels SFR Sport 1, SFR Sport 2, SFRSport 3, SFR Sport 4 and SFR Sport 5, which will be offered as well to rivaloperators, Broadband TV News reported the same day.

SFR Sport 1will reportedly become the operator's main premium sports channel, while SFRSport 2 will carry Ma Chaine Sport programming like Premiership Rugby andcircuit WTA games.

SFR willaxe thematic sports channels Ma Chaine Sport and MCS Tennis following thelaunch of the new channels, according to the report.
