Cuban President Raul Castro is set to step down in April 2018 after the country's National Assembly voted to push back general elections because of the disruption caused by Hurricane Irma, Agence France-Presse reported.
The general elections, initially set for the end of February 2018, will be moved to a date yet to be decided by the lawmakers, according to AFP.
The country's Council of State, whose members are chosen by the National Assembly, will elect Castro's successor.
