Mexico's Bansefi postpones plans to relaunch national savings bonds program

Mexicandevelopment bank Banco del AhorroNacional y Servicios Financieros SNC, or Bansefi, has temporarilyshelved plans to relaunchits national savings bonds program in 2016, ElEconomista reported Sept. 29, citing Bansefi's head, Alejandra del Moral.

Thebonds remain "in the DNA" of the bank but for now it is focused onother priorities such as modernizing its technology platform and financialeducation programs, Del Moral reportedly told journalists during the 13thannual L@ Red de la Gente conference.

Atthe same conference in 2015 Del Moral reportedly said that the bank planned touse a new mechanism to promote the bonds that would take advantage of mobilephones.
