Moody's affirms Export-Import Bank of Malaysia's ratings

Moody's affirmed Export-Import Bank of Malaysia Bhd.'s long-term foreigncurrency and senior unsecured ratings at A3, with a stable outlook.

The rating agency also affirmed the A3 long-term ratings of thebank's unit, EXIM Sukuk Malaysia Bhd.

The affirmation of Export-Import Bank of Malaysia's ratingsreflects the high likelihood of support from the government, if needed. Thebank also operates with a strong capital buffer against the backdrop of high-assetquality risks.

Moody's may upgrade the bank's rating if there is a similarupgrade of the sovereign rating. The bank's stand-alone credit profile could beraised if it improves its profitability, asset quality and funding metrics, while maintaining a high capital buffer.

The outlook on the bank could be lowered to negative if theoutlook on the sovereign rating is similarly downgraded. Any sign of weakeninggovernment support could also negatively affect the supported ratings of thebank.
