U.S. hotels logged negative performance for the week ended Oct. 5, according to STR data.
Year over year, revenue per available room declined 7.5% to $88.00, while the average daily rate fell 3.8% to end the week at $129.21. Occupancy dropped 3.9%, to 68.1%. STR analysts attributed performance drops in many markets to the Rosh Hashanah calendar shift.
Of the top 25 U.S. markets, Boston recorded the largest decline in occupancy, falling 13.9%, to 78.5%.
Chicago logged the biggest ADR decrease, losing 14.8% to $152.35, while RevPAR in the market fell 23.1% to $108.28, the steepest drop.
Atlanta saw the largest increase in ADR, adding 7.6% to $122.49. The market also logged the largest RevPAR uptick at 8.5% to $87.58.
Houston recorded the highest rise in occupancy, with the metric rising 1.6%, to 63.5%.
