Zimmer receives subpoena from HHS inspector general

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' Office of Inspector General issued a subpoena to Zimmer Biomet Holdings Inc. in June requesting records primarily related to its professional consulting arrangements for the period Jan. 1, 2010, to the present.

According to a Form 10-Q filed Aug. 8, the subpoena does not indicate the nature of the investigation other than referencing possible false or otherwise improper claims submitted for payment.

Zimmer Biomet said it is in the process of responding to the subpoena.
