PE firm invests in electronic market maker led by former BofA Merrill Lynch exec

Funds managed by New York-based private equity firm CrestviewPartners agreed to make an equity investment in electronic market maker Arxis CapitalGroup.

According to a Sept. 30 news release, financial terms of thedeal were not disclosed.

Founded in 2014, New York-based Arxis operates a technology-driventrading platform providing liquidity in financial markets by offering to buy andsell securities on an automated basis. Arxis is led by Founder and CEO Gene Reilly,the former head of Bankof America Merrill Lynch's global quantitative market making desk, and ExecutiveChairman Tom Joyce, the formerchairman and CEO of Knight CapitalGroup Inc.

Arxis was advised by Sandler O'Neill and Partners and Paul WeissRifkind Wharton & Garrison. Crestview was advised by Davis Polk & Wardwell.
