Eldorado Gold Corp. on Dec. 16 said Paul Wright will retire as president and CEO following the company's annual general meeting in April 2017.

Goldcorp Inc. Executive Vice President and COO George Burns will succeed Wright for the roles and will also join the company's board. Wright will move to the role of Eldorado's chairman.

Robert Gilmore, the company's current chairman, will become vice chairman and independent lead director and will continue to serve on the board.

Burns has been serving as executive vice president and COO of Goldcorp since August 2012.

Todd White will replace Burns for the roles at Goldcorp, effective Jan. 1, 2017, a separate company release said.
