London-based Goldman Sachs equities partner departs

Arun Dhar, a Goldman Sachs Group Inc. partner in the equities division in London, has left the firm, Business Insider reported.

Dhar joined the investment banking giant in 2010 and was made partner in 2018, a source familiar with the matter confirmed to S&P Global Market Intelligence. Dhar was responsible for equity derivatives sales in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Goldman Sachs declined to comment when contacted by S&P Global Market Intelligence.

Goldman in recent weeks has seen high-profile departures being announced, including former CFO and current Global Co-Head of Securities Division Marty Chavez, Head of Human Capital Management Dane Holmes, and Chief Risk Officer Robin Vince. All three executives are set to leave at the end of 2019. Chief Technology Officer Elisha Wiesel has left and was replaced by Marco Argenti, who was named a partner and co-chief information officer.

The Wall Street Journal previously reported that 15% of Goldman partners are set to leave this year as Chairman and CEO David Solomon looks to limit the number of executives named as partners in a bid to maintain the exclusivity of the title. The company declined to comment on this report when contacted by S&P Global Market Intelligence.

Despite a flurry of departures by executives in recent weeks, Goldman earlier this week announced promotions for others. The investment banking giant made leadership changes in its global technology, media and telecom group; investment banking division; and in Goldman Sachs Asset Management LP, according to internal memos obtained by S&P Global Market Intelligence.
