Apple Inc. is investigating a potential battery problem in the iPhone 8 Plus following reports from across the world of the new iPhones popping open due to swollen batteries.
The reports have appeared in China, Taiwan and Japan, Reuters reported Oct. 6. Meanwhile, an Oct. 4 report from Mac Rumors also reported similar cases in Canada and Greece.
Apple's flagship phone the iPhone X is set to be released in November.
Apple rival Samsung Group's Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. was forced to completely scrap its Galaxy Note 7 device in October 2016 after defects in the design of the batteries caused widespread reports of the device catching fire.
