J.B. Hunt Transport Services Q1 profit falls YOY

J.B. Hunt Transport Services Inc. said its first-quarter normalized net income was 80 cents per share, compared with the S&P Capital IQ consensus estimate of 85 cents per share.

EPS fell 10.1% year over year from 89 cents.

Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was $89.1 million, a decline of 11.7% from $100.9 million in the prior-year period.

The normalized profit margin fell to 5.5% from 6.6% in the year-earlier period.

Total revenue rose 6.6% year over year to $1.63 billion from $1.53 billion, and total operating expenses climbed 8.7% year over year to $1.48 billion from $1.36 billion.

Reported net income rose year over year to $103.1 million, or 92 cents per share, from $100.3 million, or 88 cents per share.
