Berkeley Group fiscal H1 profit climbs 79.9% YOY

Berkeley Group Holdings PLC said its normalized net income for the fiscal first half ended Oct. 31 amounted to £1.25 per share, compared with the S&P Capital IQ consensus estimate of £1.15 per share.

EPS rose 82.8% year over year from 68 pence.

Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was £190.6 million, an increase of 79.9% from £105.9 million in the prior-year period.

Total revenue increased 24.5% on an annual basis to £1.02 billion from £821.0 million, and total operating expenses increased 10.9% on an annual basis to £722.6 million from £651.4 million.

Reported net income rose 84.5% on an annual basis to £241.7 million, or £1.59 per share, from £131.0 million, or 85 pence per share.
