Centrica PLC finished building two new "fast response" gas-fired power plants in Brigg, North East Lincolnshire, and Peterborough in the U.K., according to an Oct. 8 company news release.
Each facility consists of five reciprocating gas engines, which can each generate 49 MW of power during demand peaks and were built on land adjacent to the company's existing gas-fired power plants. They will be operated from Centrica's new energy control center in Peterborough.
The projects are part of the company's £180 million investment in a series of flexible generation and storage facilities announced in December 2016.
