Virtu Financial sees largest drop in short interest

Virtu Financial Inc. had the biggest drop in short interest relative to shares outstanding among SNL-covered financial services companies between July 14 and July 31.

The percentage of the company's shares held short relative to shares outstanding fell 1,607 basis points to 10.09% as of July 31.

Orchid Island Capital Inc. topped the list of financial services companies with the largest rises in short interest in the second half of July. The percentage of the company's shares held short relative to shares outstanding increased 329 basis points to 8.27% as of July 31.

Medallion Financial Corp. topped the list of most shorted financial services companies in the second half of July. The company saw short interest fall 87 basis points to 25.69% of shares outstanding.
