Los Angeles Superior Court Judge David Cowan asked Sumner Redstone,chairman emeritus of CBS Corp.and Viacom Inc., to providea short videotaped deposition from his home as part of an ongoing with his former girlfriend ManuelaHerzer, Variety reported May 2.

The judge said Redstone will face lawyers for a 30-minute examination,and the videotaped testimony will not be made public. The court will only releasea written transcript to the press and the public.

The news comes as Cowan recently denied a petition demanding Redstone to testify in courtover claims that he is mentally incompetent.
