Royal EnergyResources Inc. joined two other companies making preliminaryapproaches for the U.K.-based coal mining company .
Atlantic Carbon has 5,488,538,505 ordinary shares andcontrols anthracite mines in eastern Pennsylvania, according to a Sept. 20release from Atlantic announcing the preliminary approach from the Charleston,S.C.-based Royal Energy.
Live Microsystems Inc. and Australia-based have made preliminary approaches for AtlanticCarbon.
In a Sept. 26 press release, Royal confirmed discussionswith Atlantic regarding a possible bid and that it was conducting duediligence. "There can be no certainty that these discussions will resultin an offer or agreement, or as to the terms of any such offer or agreement. Afurther statement will be made as appropriate," Royal said.
Royal Energy did not respond to a request for comment, butit must announce by no later than Oct. 18 at the end of the business day eithera firm intention to make a bid or withdraw interest in the British company.
Royal Energy has been gaining steam as one of the few buyers in a busted coalmarket and earlier this year acquired the general partner of coal producerRhino Resource PartnersLP.
