Netflix signs up David Letterman for interview series

Netflix Inc. signed a deal with David Letterman to host an as-yet-unnamed hourlong series.

RadicalMedia and Letterman's Worldwide Pants will produce the project set to debut in 2018. Letterman will do six episodes of the series, which will feature "in-depth conversations" with one guest and "in-the-field segments" where Letterman will explore topics on his own away from the studio.

"I feel excited and lucky to be working on this project for Netflix. Here's what I have learned, if you retire to spend more time with your family, check with your family first. Thanks for watching, drive safely," Letterman quipped in an Aug. 8 news release.

Letterman ended his 33-year career in late-night TV on May 20, 2015, when he bid farewell to "Late Show with David Letterman" on CBS (US). During his career, he hosted 6,028 episodes, making him the longest-running late-night broadcaster in U.S. history.
