General Motors Co. and Indian IT services company Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. will team up on global vehicle engineering, according to a Sept. 16 release.
Under the terms of the partnership, Tata Consultancy will acquire some of the Michigan-based automaker's assets in its technical center in India. It will also work with General Motors to support its global vehicle programs with engineering design services over the next five years.
In addition, General Motors will transfer more than 1,300 employees at the technical center to Tata Consultancy, including teams focused on propulsion systems, vehicle engineering, controls development, testing, creative design and other special projects.
The parties did not disclose the financial details of the partnership, which builds on the 16-year relationship between the two companies.
Tata Consultancy expects the transaction and handover to be completed by the end of September.
