Kao buys back 3,990,000 shares

Japanese personal care products maker Kao Corp. repurchased 3,990,000 shares from May 7 to May 31, according to a June 3 announcement.

The shares were bought back for a total consideration of ¥34.79 billion.

The transaction is part of the ¥50 billion share repurchase program that Kao announced April 24.

Under the program, the company's board has authorized a buyback of up to 7,000,000 shares, which represents 1.4% of its total outstanding shares as of March 31. The program will run until June 21.
