Vital MetalsLtd. said April 28 that a scoping study has started to assess theviability of an open cut mining and processing operation to exploit goldmineralization at its wholly owned Kollo gold deposit in Burkina Faso.
The scoping study will initially comprise a program ofinfill and step out exploration drilling and resource modeling, followed by anevaluation of mining and processing methods, infrastructure, waste handling andenvironmental requirements.
The company is targeting completion of the study by the endof August with a sufficient level of detail to allow it to proceed directly toa definitive feasibility study, and bring the project into production "assoon as possible."
Preliminary metallurgical testwork confirmed that the goldmineralization at Kollo is amenable to either heap leaching or conventionalcarbon-in-leach processing.
As a near surface gold deposit, Vital believes that Kollocan be developed as an open pit mining operation with low capital expenditure, low operating costs and high projected margins.
