Samsung invests in Pluto TV

Free over-the-top TV service Pluto TV secured $8.3 million from investors during a funding round led by the venture capital arm of Samsung Group.

Pluto TV received $5 million from Samsung Venture Investment Corp. in the funding round, according to an Oct. 17 news release. The internet TV service will use the funding to further expand its product, content and marketing efforts.

Pluto TV has more than 100 live channels and an on-demand offering in partnership with TV networks, movie studios, publishers and digital media companies.
