AT&T Inc. has selected 99 new markets for its 5G Evolution technology.
The total number of 5G Evolution markets has now reached 239 and AT&T plans to offer 5G Evolution in more than 400 markets by end of 2018, the company said Oct. 4.
AT&T expects to offer nationwide coverage in the first half of 2019, making 5G Evolution available to more than 200 million people. The company has also extended the availability of its LTE-LAA technology in parts of 20 cities.
In September, AT&T unveiled plans to roll out mobile 5G in parts of five additional cities in 2018. The new cities are Houston; Jacksonville, Fla.; Louisville, New Orleans and San Antonio. These new cities join the cities of Atlanta; Charlotte, N.C.; Dallas, Indianapolis, Oklahoma City; Raleigh, N.C., and Waco, Texas.
