Virginia-based United Bank vice chair takes on president role

Michael Fitzgerald, vice chairman of Vienna, Va.-based United Bank, was named president of the bank, the (Arlington, Va.) Washington Business Journal reported May 17.

Fitzgerald will remain a director of United Bank's parent company, Charleston, W. Va.-based United Bankshares Inc.

He takes on the position vacated by Christopher Bergstrom, who left the bank and joined Reston, Va.-based John Marshall Bank as president and CEO earlier in May.
