Report: OneMain Financial Holdings in advanced talks over possible sale

OneMain Financial Holdings Inc. is in advanced discussions with several interested parties over a potential sale of the company, The Wall Street Journal reported, citing "people familiar with the matter."

The subprime lender is reportedly talking to both rival lenders and private equity firms, and a deal could be worth $4 billion or more.

Fortress Investment Group LLC-backed Springleaf Holdings Inc., now known as OneMain Holdings Inc., acquired OneMain Financial from Citigroup Inc. in 2015. Fortress currently owns nearly 55% of OneMain Financial stock.

Fortress in Feburary struck a deal to be acquired by Tokyo-based SoftBank Group Corp.
