E.ON SE and Google Inc. on May 18 announced plans to launch their joint Sunroof platform in Great Britain and Italy.
The companies are also extending the Sunroof platform in Germany, where it launched in May 2017, through the end of 2018, according to a news release.
E.ON said it will be the first power company in Britain and Italy, as it was in Germany, to "offer its customers a digital assessment of the photovoltaic potential of their homes."
The Sunroof program allows customers to visit a website and learn, through technology using Google Earth, Google Maps and other automated software, about their home's individual solar potential and receive an estimate of the amount of projected solar energy and the potential cost savings a rooftop solar installation on their home could generate. E.ON provides a "sunshine guarantee" to compensate homeowners if they install a solar system that produces lower yields than were forecast.
