The Thai government named Ruenvadee Suwanmongkol as secretary-general of the Securities and Exchange Commission Thailand, effective May 1, 2019, Bangkok Post reported Dec. 27.

The appointment makes Suwanmongkol the first female head of the commission. She is the director-general of the legal execution department of the SEC.

Her nomination was approved by the cabinet on Dec. 25.
